Digging the soak away and picking up stones

Folłowing a brief rest I joined my host family and a couple of church members picking stones again as we did the other day. Hand picking stones to be the hard core for the toilet base is in fact exhausting and back breaking. But at least they allowed me to participate which makes you feel you belong. But If picking stones is hard I went and had a look at the soak away which gets deeper by the day. Its all hand dug with a type of pick axe. They dig one side of the hole and if water forms pour it into the other half then dig deeper , then move water to that side to dig the other side. Thankfully it has not rained too heavily so they are getting there.

Well I am sitting in the dark again as lights are out ( power switched off so no shower as pumps are off to send the water) . My host may switch on his independent generator which can light and power part of the house. But its fuel is petrol and is expensive. Ghana does produce its own oil but the management means  its own refineries don't produce enough and they buy in refined oil. Its just crazy.
