Tuesday 5th

A trip into Cape Coast dropping the three children off at the university school. I took Jehu the youngest into his class and  he was nervous about going back to school. The school is private and provides the level of education that the state run schools just do not provide. The school is clean, the children look amazing in their school uniforms . At the primary part of the school  the children were lining up ready to go in just didn't have my camera to hand. Jehu is in nursery so just goes into class. I got a few stares of course the only white face, but I get that a lot now as we are going into places that hardly ever see a white person, Obroni being the shout that goes up, and everyone looks at you.
We have come to the diocese offices, so morning prayers using the old Methodist Hymn Book which meant I could join in. Introduced to the staff, always interesting to see how when they realise you are a minister they look at you differently. Here it is with respect and yet that makes me feel uncomfortable because surely in the end its about you not the role you exercise.

Looking out I can see broken down properties as always, and out to the ocean which we drove along back from the school. Such beauty with coconut trees all along the route. At some point I trust we will have chance to stop and buy and eat one. The milk is wonderful and the flesh soft and succulant.

The names of the shops continue to make me smile. No matter what they are selling Jesus, God, Shepherd etc will appear.
Below is a photo of the church I wrote about yesterday. Anyone feel moved to send funds to finish the walls and put a roof on? If so leave a comment and let me have your e.mail address and when I return to UK I will direct funds for the task. The small white building is the old church collapsing. The building on the right is the new church. It needs to build up walls and put open windows in then a roof.
