Praying for water

Well its a first for me. Blog writing inturupted  as local buisness asked if we could go and pray. Its a small water company and they were drilling for a new well to extract water. Could we come and pray for its success. How can you say no. Water, and clean water is so precious. If succesful they can increase their production, employ more workers and its a good news story. So we prayed and I just pray our prayers are answered.

I wonder how often ministers in the UK ever get asked so naturally to come and be involved in peoples everyday lives. I've blessed the odd new church carpet, but no one has ever asked me to pray for something like this that really matters.

Now I'm not so niave as to believe its so simple, and that here in Ghana people are so  spiritual, just because they still come out to church in numbers. Living on the edge brings you close to life and death, you will try anything at times. But why shouldn't people in the UK pray for their buisness to be succesful. To employ people etc. of course its down to motivation. Perhaps its here that the founder of Methodism John Wesley  got it right. His sermon on the use of money is still relevant because it understands the right relationship we should have with money. How if used rightly it is life giving to all and not just for the few. Be interesting to see the worlds system of economics based on Mr Wesley's sermon. 'Earn all you can , save all you can, give all you can' the latter means not hoarding but truly sharing so all can be enriched.
