Wedding in Asebu May 9th 2015

It has been a wonderful experience to share in a wedding. Two couples getting married at the same time which is a first for me, let alone doing it in Ghana.
The church had been decked out brightly and of course we did not start on time!

So going to the church at 9.40am and leaving at 1.05 pm gives you an idea of timings.
Mind you signing the registers for two couples with six people witnessing each takes for ever.

Of course singing and dancing took place while we signed and once they started they were not keen to stop.

My farmer who provided oranges was there and so opportunity for a photo together before the service.

Revd Eric kicked off the service and then left me to lead the vows and marry them.

The bible readings followed standing of course for the gospel.

Then it was time to preach and unlike most of my services I was clapped at the end. Eric translated for me.

And while the photographer was snapping away, as was the congregation with their phones of the  two happy couples, it did seem that a lot of photos were being taken of me, again not the normal experience when I conduct weddings. The genuine appreciation of my being here is palpable. It feels right to have returned and to be spending the time focussed here in Asebu. There is so much to take in and absorb. No doubt this time here will be in my thoughts for months to come.

The wedding has been a real fun time. A  celebration as marriage should be with singing  and lots and lots of dancing, not least by the couples. There is a story behind at least one of the couples but its not for a blog, but I really hope that they find happiness and secuirty in their companionship.
